It is a fact that a Paithani is a magnificent cloth made from silk; but Kapse Foundation is not and will never be stuck at just the yarn. Kapse Foundation is an enterprise to repay the moral debt of nurture that this land has bestowed upon us and that is why we have made it the home, the office of hundreds of those who are hard of hearing. They have the honourable company of our tribal brethren. We all are in it together to preserve the grand art of weaving this magnificent fabric called Paithani.

Our Vision
At Kapse Foundation, we envision a world where opportunity and dignity are available to everyone, regardless of their background or physical abilities. We strive to create a self-sustaining model that empowers marginalized individuals by providing them with meaningful employment and vocational training in areas closely connected to our heritage and environment.
Our Goals
- Sustain India’s ancient Paithani weaving art through independent commercial efforts.
- Empower rural, economically disadvantaged communities with training and employment opportunities.
- Promote organic, sustainable agriculture, extending benefits to broader communities.
- Preserve ancient Indian cow-rearing traditions through sustainable goshala development.
How de we work?
The Kapse group has succeeded in both preserving the process of weaving Paithni and preserving its original form. It is our duty not only to create Paithani, but to preserve and enhance everything that comes along with Paithani. For this, the next Vastu is being constructed at Kapse Paithani Park.
Well equipped production department
Construction of production department started in 2016. At present, 39 thousand square feet of space has been developed in this section on three floors. There is also a facility to increase four more floors in the future. Each of the three floors of the development can accommodate 80 handlooms. This department will also have an embroidery department.
Handsome staff colony
An employee colony is being set up by Kapse Pratishthan for economically weaker workers and weavers. At present, four buildings have been completed and there are a total of 71 flats. Currently 33 families are living in these 600 square feet flats. Free accommodation has been provided to tribal and deaf and hard of hearing disabled weavers.
Luxurious Paithani sales hall
80 thousand square feet of spacious space is available on three floors in Kapse Paithani Park. KK Handloom's retail outlet will be shifted to this expanded space to serve the customers. The service and efficiency will increase manifold as all the three departments - sales room, museum and office - are in the same park.
Founder of Kapse Foundation
Balkrushna Namdeo Kapse
Today the name Kapse Paithani is familiar to the entire Maharashtra. Behind this is Balkrishna Namdev i.e. Balasaheb Kapse's dream, day and night hard work and constant yearning to create something good. This business, which started from house-to-house sales of sarees with bundles of sarees, has reached crores of households today. A great success story is the education gained from extreme poverty and then the empire built by the cotton spinning industry. But with the feeling that we should give back to the society what we have received abundantly from the society, he has started two activities namely Kapse Foundation and Ahilya Goshala.
